Additional Products and Services

Mail Central One offers many products and services designed to fit the unique needs of our membership.

Overdraft Protection

Accidents happen. When the occasional oversight or unexpected expense occurs, overdraft protection is a low-cost feature to save you from financial trouble.

Overdraft protection comes in three forms:

Personal Access Line (PAL)

For members with fair to good credit, we offer Personal Access Lines (PALs) as overdraft protection on your Central One checking accounts. PALs are a variable line of credit and can be as high as $5,000.*

When an accidental overdraft happens, funds are automatically borrowed from your PAL to fund the overdraft. There is no fee associated with the transfer and you only pay interest on the funds you borrow.

Benefits of a Personal Access Line

  • No fees associated with using your PAL, only pay interest on the funds borrowed
  • Once you are approved for a PAL, funds can be borrowed for any reason at any time
  • Save you the cost of a high non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee
  • Can ensure your eBills go through when scheduled
  • Prevents checks from bouncing, saving you from high merchant fees
  • Saves you the embarrassment of denied debit card transaction

*Based on creditworthiness.

Automatic Transfer (Overdraft Transfer from Savings)

The Automatic Transfer program transfers the needed funds to your checking account from one of your Central One savings accounts.* There is a $5 fee per transaction which is usually less than the cost of a missed bill or returned check. There is a limit of 6 overdraft transfers per month.

Benefits of Auto Transfer

  • Saves you the cost of a high non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee
  • Can ensure your eBills go through as scheduled
  • Prevents checks from bouncing, saving you from high merchant fees
  • Avoids the embarrassment of denied or returned transaction

*This is not a line of credit but simply a method of electronically transferring funds from your Savings Accounts to cover any overdraft checks. If there are not sufficient funds in the savings account or you have overdrawn six (6) times, the checks will not clear and will be declared as non-sufficient funds in the account.

Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay is the last line of defense against accidental overdrafts. It has a higher fee associated with it than auto transfers or personal access line usage, and access to Courtesy Pay is at the discretion of the credit union*. Checks and ACH transfers for qualified members may be automatically covered by the Courtesy Pay program. For ATM and debit transactions, you must opt in to receive this protection.

Courtesy Pay fees are tiered. See the Consumer Service Charge Schedule to see the current fees.

If you are enrolled in other overdraft protections, such as a PAL or Auto Transfer, we will continue to use those methods before we use Courtesy Pay.

*Member Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age, be a member in good standing with an account open for at least 180 days and have no more than two 30-day late loan payments or one 60-day late payment in the last 24 months. Central One reserves the right to deny payment.
