Central One’s Devon Lyon Named CEO of the Year by Cooperative Credit Union Association

Central One Federal Credit Union President and CEO Devon Lyon receives CEO of the year award from CCUA

We are proud to announce that our President and CEO, Devon Lyon, has been named CEO of the Year by the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA). This distinguished award is part of CCUA’s Awards of Excellence, a prestigious recognition honoring individuals who make a lasting impact within the credit union system and embody its core values and principles. These are the heroes and “credit union legends” who set the standard for leadership and service.

In response to receiving this award, Devon shared, “Thank you so much for this incredible honor. I’m truly humbled to receive this recognition. This award doesn’t belong to me alone. It belongs to every single person at Central One Federal Credit Union who shows up every day committed to our members and our mission. Our team’s dedication to serving our community with excellence is what makes everything we do possible.”

Devon’s unwavering leadership and commitment to advancing the credit union philosophy make him an ideal recipient of this award. After many years championing the credit union movement, Devon joined Central One as President and CEO in 2022. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to create meaningful change within our organization and the communities we serve.

A commitment to community impact

His dedication to community outreach and philanthropy is especially evident. From building beds for children in need with A Bed for Every Child to crafting playhouses for veteran families through Habitat for Humanity, Devon’s hands-on involvement in charitable initiatives reflects his deep commitment to social responsibility.

Driving meaningful cultural transformation

Under Devon’s leadership, we have seen a cultural transformation focused on employee morale and well-being. He prioritizes work-life balance, volunteerism, and career development, recognizing their essential role in fostering a strong organizational culture. As a result, we were recently named one of the Top 10 Best Credit Unions to Work For by American Banker.

Promoting financial education and inclusion for all

Devon has also prioritized financial accessibility and inclusion. Each year we donate $10,000 to African Community Education, an organization that provides educational resources and opportunities to African refugee and immigrant youth. This ongoing support reflects his belief that everyone deserves access to financial services and opportunities, regardless of their background.

Contributions like these set Devon apart, not only as an exceptional CEO, but as a champion for credit unions and the communities we serve.
