Coverdell Education Savings

The primary advantage of the Coverdell Education Savings Account is that earnings in the account accumulate on a tax deferred basis and can be withdrawn from the account tax free if used to pay for qualified education expenses.

A CESA is a trust or custodial account established for the sole purpose of saving and paying for the qualified education expenses of an individual designated as the account beneficiary. The designated beneficiary must generally be under age 18 when the account is established.

Contributions to a CESA: Contributions must meet certain criteria and limits

Income Requirements for Contributions: Certain Income restrictions apply to contributions

Education Expenses: Qualified education expenses include qualified higher education expenses and qualified elementary and secondary education expenses.

IRA certificates offer competitive rates and are available with a $1000 minimum balance.
